


The Event "Experiencing the Lancang River, Promoting Lancang-Mekong Cooperation" was Successfully Held
From August 23 to 26, a four-day trip for experiencing the Lancang River and promoting the Lancang-Mekong water resources cooperation was successfully organized in Yunnan Province. The trip was co-hosted by China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Center (LMC Center), Yunnan Foreign Affairs Office and Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Inc. Over 50 representatives, including diplomatic envoys of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, foreign students and Chinese experts, attended this event and its related activities. The representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China participated in the whole process as well.
During the trip, the delegates visited Nuozhadu Hydropower Station, the Manmi Resettlement Village, the Yunjinghong Hydrological Station and the Jinghong Hydropower Station. Based on these visit tours, a seminar was held on promoting and upgrading the Lancang-Mekong water resources cooperation.
Through the seminar, diplomatic envoys of Mekong countries and representatives of foreign students expressed their impressions of and put forward suggestions on Lancang-Mekong water resources cooperation. Through this trip, they said that they have learned more about the important role water conservancy infrastructure played in coping with flood and drought disasters and sustainable utilization of river basin water resources. They realized the importance China attaches to ecological and environmental protection in hydropower development, and were impressed by the close friendship of the six Lancang-Mekong countries. Chinese youth representatives from Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Inc. and Yunjinghong Hydrological Station shared their experiences and impressions of their participation in hydropower construction and flood report to Mekong countries.
