On March 24th, Wen Shugang, Chairman of China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., attended the seminar on Carbon Neutrality and Global Climate Governance at the 2024 Annual Meeting of the China Development Forum, and delivered a speech on the topic of "Accelerating Low-carbon Energy Transition and Contributing to Global Climate Governance".

Wen Shugang noted in his speech that with the global climate change getting increasingly severe, deepening global climate governance has become an international consensus. Integrating carbon peaking and carbon neutrality into its overall economic and social development layout, China vigorously develops a green, low-carbon and circular economy, and focuses on building a new-type energy system and a new-type power system.

Wen Shugang highlighted that China Huaneng actively performs the social responsibility of global climate governance by vigorously boosting renewable energy, actively developing hydropower, safely and efficiently promoting nuclear power, exploring low-carbon energy technologies, and deepening international energy cooperation. China Huaneng strives to build the three major pillars of renewable energy, hydropower and nuclear power, and takes low-carbon technology innovation as its driving force to promote green and low-carbon transition.

Wen Shugang believed that in response to the challenges of global climate governance, it is necessary to uphold the vision of a community of life for human and Nature and a community with a shared future for mankind, and build a fair, rational, cooperative and win-win global climate governance system. China Huaneng is willing to join hands with all parties to strengthen practical cooperation, accelerate the replacement of non-fossil energy, strengthen green and low-carbon technology innovation, and ensure the security of the global industrial chain and supply chain, so as to jointly promote global green and sustainable development, and build a clean and beautiful world.
